Out of The Comfort Zone.
Good morning.
This past month being back in Phoenix has been pretty non-stop for me which is, in part, one of the reasons moving to Puerto Rico part-time is beneficial.
It allows me to focus and basically strictly just get work done.
But when I am in Phoenix I get to wake surf which is my new favorite hobby and one I am going to attempt to do down in the Caribbean as well.
This past week I had some light shined on things that I missed in the markets and that came from not testing outside of my comfort zone.
For years I’ve basically traded the same few strategies and ignored some that I should have been paying attention too.
Maybe that was a case of just being “too comfortable” or just being lazy.
Either way, it was a wake-up call to get out of my comfort zone more and to drop the tunnel vision not only in markets but other things as well.
And to be fair, this was sparked by conversations with a few TLV readers and other traders I’ve known for a while who happened to be on Phoenix the past few weeks.
Talking with them, hearing their stories/struggles allowed me to reflect on my own strategies and journey.
What things was I missing? What could I do be more efficient with the capital?
I do think sometimes it’s good to stay in your lane and do what works but there gets a point where you cap out, where you have to adjust and that’s what I plan to do.
I’ll be headed back to Puerto Rico in a few weeks but not before stopping in New York for a week to catch up with a long-time friend and meet with some others during that trip.
If you’re around the 15-24th in NYC ping me.
Dan
