The LongVol Report Issue 44
The end of October is here this week and Issue 44 of the report is out.
In issue 40 I talked about being patient with new energy longs and that is going to play out with some new notes on energy stocks inside.
The $SPX and Nasdaq have really broke down and The Russell 2000 is negative on the year.
Investing legend, Howard Marks, wrote Sea Change in December 2022, he updated that here.
In there he said this:
Bottom line: If this really is a sea change – meaning the investment environment has been fundamentally altered – you shouldn’t assume the investment strategies that have served you best since 2009 will do so in the years ahead.
I’ve been saying this as well in a December 2022 note here.
The backdrop of investing has changed. Your passive approach of buy and hold is DEAD IN THE WATER.
Some will realize this now and make a change, and if you do, great - let me help with The LongVol Report.
I could care less whether it’s tech, commodities, long housing, short housing - it’s all the same to me.
That’s an absolute return framework and it works and this will be key for the foreseeable future - again read Howard Marks’ note.
That’s a big baller telling you so it’s on you to realize it or continue on the passive approach.
