Welcome to another episode of WYMTW - I have some updates for readers.
You can now listen to the show on Spotify (and soon Apple)
I will be writing these on the original TheLongVol.com - read the issue 19 here.
I made a few updates for the new issue as we go into Q3 to focus more on swing/hold ideas which are a majority of what I personally do to run portfolios. A lot of you that access the membership here get access to active ideas and it’s paid off for a lot of you if you just followed and focused - esp. this last week and really all quarter.
But, that’s been the same with the full report and the access to the Swing Monitor - in fact, I am adding back the “Boing Boing” Monitor which is a model that used to be in this report 3 years ago. I was taught how to scan for stocks that had certain parameters that were extremely sold-off or left behind over 14 years ago by a former hedge fund manager, mutual fund manger and ex-commodities corp trader named Courtney Smith. He called it something similar but over the years that scan got the term “Boing Boing” because it was similar to a large bounce - might be silly sounding but it produces gains and it’s back by request in addition to the market allowing for it again.
This will add to the report selfishly for me as well because I have more of an interest to expand it because of the research I have to do for the Investment Management firm - the ideas that I am after for larger +$1M portfolios can’t be accomplished by day trading the markets - you just cannot move any size or have a credible track-record with that much volatility in a portfolio nor do I trust that enough to run money with.
So, the report will expand further to get into more holds and some ideas that do not use DITM calls/puts but can be used for shares as well. I get the obsession everyone has with options anymore and to be clear it was not like this 10 years ago. Today, everyone takes an idea and it must be “option-driven” and it’s just not the case in some instances and some stocks that are out there move really well but don’t have the option volume to justify an option structure. Plus, with that, I am selfishly looking for names that are 2-3 baggers and I don’t mind waiting 8-12 months to get those returns so my attention will shift more into that part of the report.
To be clear, it’s not that I am against the short-term trading, it’s just so plug and play at this point that I don’t have to spend hours looking for call-sweeps or sitting at the screen 8 hours a day watching candle by candle play out, and if you don’t see it that way then subscribe to the site here and actually pay attention for 1 month and you’ll see what I mean - seriously.
The weekly video is now on Spotify as well - if you want to send in questions please do every week and I’ll feature them on the show but my plan is to focus on investing and discussing companies/turnarounds etc.
